Yes! The point of functional fitness is to GET fit. You do not have to be fit to start with. Additionally, Dr. Eldridge programs workouts to ensure every fitness level can perform them well and with purpose. We’ve coached members who have never worked out in their life before, amputees, 85 year olds, and individual CrossFit Regionals and Games Athletes. You CAN do it.

No, we don’t flip tires over here. Some of the competitors do the kipping or butterfly pull ups, but not usually in the regular class. To prevent injury, Dr. Eldridge has strict rules and progressions of strength before any of those more “crazy” things are allowed to be tried. You won’t be forced into anything you cannot or should not be doing. Safety is a priority.

The risk of injury in CrossFit is extremely low when compared to regular sports. Additionally, every workout is programmed by Dr. Eldridge and coached by an expert with the intention of maximizing benefits while keeping injury risk low. GOOD FORM comes before intensity. Our coaches are not cheerleaders only there to yell at you to push harder during a workout. We teach you how to move well and keep a close eye on everyone to prevent bad movement patterns and potential injury. We prioritize moving well and feeling good above all else. So, in short, you have less of a risk of getting injured here than if you went out and started playing soccer, basketball, baseball, etc. Plus, the fitness results are amazing.

Communitas is Latin noun referring to a community in which all members are equal. It’s a community who’s members share a common experience such that no one, regardless of original societal status, is superior to another.
We take serious pride in our name and culture, which is why we believe we have some of the most genuine, kind, and supportive people in Sacramento. The community makes the individual stronger, so a strong community will better help EVERYONE reach and surpass their goals, both in and out of the gym.

Preferable shorts and a t-shirt that allows ease of movement. If it’s winter time, wear layers as it can be a bit cold in the building. Try to wear CrossFit style shoes if you have them, running shoes if you don’t.

Short answer, no. It really depends on how you eat. If you eat well, you will lose fat and gain some muscle. Men tend to gain muscle easier than women, so men usually get more shredded while women more toned.
